# Quickstart

> This guide walks you through setting up your first Surfacd project and collecting your first data.

Set up your first Surfacd project in 6 steps.

## 1. Create a Project

1. From Surfacd, click **+ Create Project**
2. Enter a name (e.g., "HubSpot - UK")
3. Select your **Country** (this sets the default geographic context for prompts)
4. Set **Check Frequency** to Daily or Weekly

## 2. Add Your Brand

During project creation, you'll be asked to set up your primary brand:

* Enter your **Brand Name**
* Add your **Brand Domain** (e.g., `hubspot.com`)
* Include **Aliases** for name variations (e.g., "Hub Spot", "HubSpot CRM")

## 3. Select AI Services

Choose which AI platforms to monitor:

* ChatGPT
* Google Gemini
* Perplexity
* Microsoft Copilot
* Grok
* Google AI Mode
* Google AI Overviews

## 4. Curate Topics

After creating your project, Surfacd analyses your brand and generates suggested **topics** — categories that will structure your prompt library (e.g., "Enterprise CRM", "Email Marketing", "Sales Automation").

* **Edit** topic names and descriptions to match your priorities
* **Add** new topics or **remove** ones that aren't relevant
* Set a **target audience** to tailor prompt generation
* Choose how many **prompts** to generate across your topics

## 5. Review Prompts

Surfacd generates prompts for each of your topics automatically. On the Prompts page:

* **Review** the generated prompts — accept, edit, or remove any that aren't relevant
* **Add more** using manual entry, file import, or [Suggest Prompts](/docs/suggested-prompts)

**Good prompts are natural questions:**

* "What is the best CRM software for small businesses?"
* "Can you recommend email marketing tools?"
* "What are the pros and cons of Salesforce?"

Start with 20–50 prompts covering your key topics. See [Adding Prompts](/docs/adding-prompts) for a detailed guide.

## 6. Start Collecting Data

Your project is now set up and ready to go.
Click **Request New Run**. Results typically begin to arrive within a few minutes, runs may take up to a few hours to fully complete depending on the number of prompts you're tracking.

## What's Next

Once your first run completes:

* **Dashboard** shows your visibility score and ranking
* **Rankings** compares you against competitors
* **Mentions** shows exactly how AI describes your brand
* **Sources** reveals which websites AI cites
* **Analyse** lets you compare across services, countries, and topics
